We know the diameter of our planet, its distance from the Sun, and the speed of light. We know the force of gravity, the melting point of water, and the frequency of electromagnetic radiation. We can examine and calculate the parameters of the world around us. So we know a lot about how it works, but still little about why. What causes orderly structures to form, organizing themselves into the forms we observe? What gives them direction and allows them to exist, even for a moment, in a logical structure that can be grasped?
