Technology has become a common
part of our everyday lives. It has become so familiar that we no
longer notice it. It anticipates our every move and charts our path
forward. And we follow it, believing that it is our own choice.
In
this work, I refer to the “technological singularity,” a
hypothetical moment in history when artificial intelligence will take
control of technology for its own purposes, unpredictable to humans.
So will the synthesis of human thought and advanced technology
determine the direction of our evolution? Formally, I deliberately
refer to the classical landscape to emphasize the risk of the elusive
moment of transformation of what raises doubts into what is normal
and universally accepted.
